Travel Sheet
Task is to design paper car with 2 pieces of paper that will travel with the greatest momentum yet not break?
I'm helping my daughter think of ideas of how to create a paper design car that will travel with the greatest momentum yet maintain its crashworthiness. The vehicle design must carry an egg and protect it as it crashes into a concrete wall.
Anyone has any ideas?
Teacher will be prividing supplies
-2 Sheets of paper
-wheels and axles
-egg. large Grade A.
Entire body of the car must be made from glue and the 2 pieces of paper.
HELP!
I would form the body of the car from paper rolled into a cone shape.
Insert the egg into the cone with half of the second sheet stuffed into the nose as padding. Cut strips of the remaining paper to form a basket weave that can be glued to the inside of the rear of the cone to cradle the egg. Glue the egg to the paper. You don't want a sudden stop to the egg's forward motion. You just want a gentle cushioned stop.
Smear glue on the surface on the paper to give it strength.
