How can I hook up 6 high brightness LED's rated at 7000mcd?
Hi there....
So I knew a lot about electronics about a year ago but I forgot some of the basics.
I bought 6 white led's that i want all to light up in a single circuit? I have tons of types of resistors and capacitors...don't hold back 
The specifications on the back of the package of the LED (from radioshack) say...
5mm
high brightness
white LED
Intensity:7000mcd (typical)
Viewing angle: 30 degrees
FW current: 25mA
FW supply: 3.3V (typical), 3.6V (max.)
So how do I hook these up in a single circuit so that they make plenty of light without blowing out the LED's...and without using too many batteries? Thanks.
LED's are current devices not voltage!
how to rig them depends on the source
assume a 12V power supply
if you string 3 in series it will drop about 9.9 to 10.8V
so you will need a resistor of 12V - 10.3V = 1.7V ÷ 0.025 = 68Ω
so make 2 strings
if it is for automotive use I suggest to make 3 strings of 2 LED's because of voltage variations, this will prolong the life
