How did the transition from cot to bed go for you?
My daughter is 16 months and her Nan brought her a toddler bed for xmas that we have had set up ready to go since then but i am delaying it as i am dreading the up and down up and down that im sure is going to happen, so i am just wondering if anyone has some tips or tricks even just stories about what to expect....also at what age did you transistion them?
Aaah yes, fun times, lol.
My elder two went into beds when their baby brothers came along as I needed the cot, lol. Blake was 2 years and 4 months and Tyler was 2 years and 6 months. They transitioned into a bed really well, I honestly had no trouble with them two getting up at all, amazing!
Brodie on the other hand has been a little devil, and still is! He went into a bed at around 2 years and 4 months. He just seemed a bit big for the cot. Well anyway, the first night he kept getting up, no matter how many times we put him back to bed. I considered putting the child gate on his door but he knows how to open them, so in the end we just ended up shutting his door! Mean I know, but it worked.
We were hoping for improvements over the following nights, but no, he kept getting up.
Now, about 5 months into sleeping in a bed, he still gets up sometimes but just plays in his room, he doesn't come out. Some nights he is so tired he just goes straight to sleep. Often we go in to find him sound asleep on the floor, light on, toys out! Cheeky man.
All in all though he is fairly good. He knows if he comes out of his room that we will put him back to bed and shut the door, so he doesn't want that!
The only trouble with being in a bed is that they can get up whatever time they want in the morning! Many a morning Brodie has been sent back to bed at the most silly of times. 2yo's can't distinguish which is a reasonable get up time, lol.
